Self-Referred and GP/Specialist-Referred
Self-Referred
clients without a GP/specialist referral
Self-referring clients can contact Dorian directly and start counselling without the need to see their GP. The benefit of self-referral is you can start counselling with Dorian immediately and without the need for a mental health diagnosis or Mental Healthcare Plan from a GP.
Self-referred clients have additional confidentiality as their information stays with Dorian and is not shared with their GP or a third party (unless there is an emergency or a serious safety risk).
GP/Specialist-Referred
with a Mental Health Care Plan
Clients can be referred for counselling with Dorian through their GP with a Mental Health Care Plan. This allows clients to receive a Medicare Rebate for up to 20 Sessions per calendar year with Dorian (please note a gap fee is still payable each session).
A GP referral to see Dorian allows for collaboration between both your GP and Psychologist, providing comprehensive support especially if further specialist referrals are required or medication is necessary.

The practice room has been designed as a calm and welcoming sanctuary away from the stresses of daily life. With comfortable couches, natural lighting, the space is a warm and environment where you can feel relaxed and welcome.
